Sameth Makes a Frog

This picture originally had a different title, but I know my friend would murder me if I posted it under it, because the old title was a huge spoiler and she hasn't finished the books.

Anyway, this is the third piece in my illustration final. This character is Prince Sameth of the Old Kingdom. His specialty is creating magical clockwork devices and placing magic into items. In the story, Sam has this magic frog that he created as a present for his mother, Sabriel. Sabriel (for those who haven't read the books) is a sort of anti-necromancer. Her job is to lay the dead to rest... and consequently, she spends a lot of time in nasty places that have tons of bugs, so Sam created a magical frog that would eat all the bugs in the general area. This is him creating the frog.

Honestly, I think the frog should be bronze, but I finished shading it with payne's gray at like 4 AM and decided that it was good enough. I might make it bronze later.

In the bottom right hand corner are two coins, I threw in there as a bit of a joke. Sam has a magic coin toy he made that annoys the shit out of all of his relatives (all of them). He mentions during the story that his mother broke the first one he created and his sister hammered the second one flat... So I put in a hammered coin and the undamaged coin he made to replace it.
